Ski trip news

Hey everyone,

Are you getting excited about our ski trip tomorrow? There are a couple of things that we need to talk about.
1. Here is the information for the cabins
Candace phone # is 604-797-6844 (Guys)
Fly away chalet is 604-797-2334 (Girls)
I don’t get a good signal up at Hemlock but here is my cell phone number 360-927-9722

Both cabin are on Sakwi Creek Road, "Candace" is the first cabin on your right when you turn off
Hemlock Valley Road, it is log and has a blue roof.
The Flyaway Chalet is the 5. cabin on the left side, 2 log, an A-frame cabin, a small cabin and then the cabin with the propeller in front.

2. Sleeping arrangements: the guys will be staying at Candace a cabin that we have never stayed at before. Andrew and Stephanie get a bedroom and Dan and former student Nate get the bedroom with 2 single beds in it. There are a couple of other bedrooms but some will have to sleep on the couches and floor. Remember to bring your sleeping bag and a blowup mattress if you have them.

Girls will be sleeping in the Fly away chalet with the Plata’s. It’s a smaller cabin but everyone will fit.

3. Driving: The Plata’s and Dan will be driving up tomorrow morning. I talked to the people in Hemlock and they said that in Abbotsford the roads are pretty good. We do have chains, a portable jumper system, first aid kit, and other tools for the van.  You need to be at church by 8:30 am in order to pack and get on our way. We are going to take it easy getting up there so the sooner we leave the better. Also, you need to give the co-pilot your identification . We will make sure we have everyone’s before going.

4. Andrew and Stephanie are leaving later in the evening. The only person that I know is going up with them is Jordan if he has school, if he does not have school Jordan will come up with us.

5. Ria and Jill will come up Saturday morning.

6. Cindy Moe is bring up Mike, Nick Davis, and Noah Dotson. I will leave your lift tickets at the front desk.

7. Lessons are scheduled for 3:00 pm for those who have lessons on Friday (Agnes, Molly, and Mindy)
Lessons for Jordan is scheduled for 10:30 am on Saturday

8. Devotions will be on Friday night at 8:30 pm, Saturday at 8:30 pm, and Sunday morning (TBA)

9. Ok, I think that is it for now, please bring snacks to share and pray for a safe trip. Oh, yes we will be returning to church around 1 or 2 pm.

Another snow day!

I planned to have all of you over to my house to hang out (5:30-7:30) and eat snacks but I don't want you driving in this weather. So we will have to do it another time. Please keep the people that have to drive to work in your prayers. I think of Stephanie who has to travel to Burlington, Ria is working in Everett, Andrew has to drive to Bellingham everyday.

Enjoy the day with your friends and family.

No youth group tonight!

Since many youth groups in our area are not starting yet and because I have heard that many students and some leaders can’t come (sickness or homework) we are going to take the night off. Instead the leaders are going to get together and pray, plan, and talk about this next season of high school youth group. We, the youth leaders can’t wait to see all of you and we are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, January 11th. If you have your ski stuff you can bring it to church anytime. The church library door is unlock until 4:00 pm where there is a drop box or you can put it in the big black mail box by my office door.

Don’t forget to bring your baby picture next week Wednesday.

Blessings,

Daniel

Baby Picture for Wednesday, January 4

High school students and leaders for Wednesday bring a picture of you as a baby (2 years old or younger for a game). The picture should not have anything that might give away who is the baby in the picture like name written on the back, other people in the picture that someone might recognize, or something else.

Next two weeks---

A huge standing ovation to Molly and Joci for leading their teams. You both did a great job and it was great for us as leaders to see your different leadership styles. The Mighty Moody Minions won our competitions but the Super Foxxy's did a great job as well.

This week Wednesday (14th) join us for bowling. Bring $5.00 for bowling and whatever money you want to bring for food. Meet at church by 7:30 pm and we will start bowling around 8:00 pm---the guy at Mt. Baker Bowling said that leagues are done around 8:00 pm and we don't need reservations---we will see. We will miss Joci for she left for Maine today.

Next week, Wednesday 21st is our Christmas party. We will be leaving church at 6:00 pm and traveling to Sky High Sports and trampoline walls http://sea.jumpskyhigh.com/ where we will be jumping all over the place and playing extreme dodge ball.

Here's what you need:

-$10.00 to get in (we will take care of the rest)
- Money for a snack--they have a snack bar
-Sky High Customer Release form (filled out) print it out from the following website.

http://sea.jumpskyhigh.com/downloads/Liability_Waiver_Washington.pdf

It's going to be a late night---plan accordingly

Lip Sync--sing off tonight.

Bring all the stuff you need. We have the judges, the music, and the place (church basement). It all starts at 7:30 pm. We also will have the judges judge your team flag. There is a lot riding on tonight and we will find out which team will be the team.

See you there.

Daniel

If you want some great soup and salad GEMS is having their soup supper from 5:00-7:00 pm in the church basement. If you have a couple bucks to donate that's great if not that's ok too.

Next week we will be having our lips sync competition so be ready.

Nov. 9th

Tonight Joci will be away at a soccer game, think of her in your prayers. Also, pray for Stephanie because her grandma ( Henrietta Noteboom) has been having a lot of health issues including blood clots. For tonight we will be competing again but I am not sure if this will bring the Mighty Moody Minions down without her help. We will see. Join us at church from 7:30-9:30

Happy Oct. 31st

We are changing the date for high school youth group. Instead of having youth group on Wednesday, November 2nd we will have youth group on Monday, Oct. 31st. The reason is we are going to dress up and go around to homes to ask for canned goods and dry goods for The Hope Office. The Hope office, also known as Project Hope, distributes the food to needy families that come to them for help.

Meet at Church at 7:30 p.m.
The competitions for that night:
The team can gather the most lbs. of food wins and the team that has the most creative costumes wins. Extra consideration for the team or teams that have a theme in which everyones costume fits with. For example "Sleeping Beauty and the Seven Dwarfs." NO satanic, violent, or sexy costumes.

Some issues about this type of event:

-The day is different so some people might not be able to make it. Let me know if the date is a problem.
-The question of Halloween and should we as Christians be celebrating Halloween is a hard one. I personally have never gone trick or treating as a kid so I am not an expert on the subject. The way that I am looking at it as being similar to the Senior Masquerade at LC where students dress up and go bowling. The difference is that it is on Halloween the reason for doing it on Halloween is that people expect people to be knocking on there doors anyway. I don't have a problem with it and I have talked to some members of the leadership of our church. The advice I received from them was that the costumes not be satanic, violent, or sexy.

If your parent has a problems with this I totally respect that and I will understand that you can't come. Please have your parent contact me for any questions or comments that they might have.

Thanks

Dan

Let me know.

Hey everyone, I know that you are super busy with the end of the term this week but I wanted to see how many of you will be coming to this weeks youth group because we have a very special youth group with Jack  Parriera who of many of you know lost his little boy Cash to cancer. I wanted to see if you were coming because if not many of you can show up then I will see if Jack and do it another time. We also are playing dodge ball, ping-pong, and some other games. For extra points memories Isaiah:55 250 pts. for every verse. Either way please send me a message if you can or can't come.

Thanks

Dan
