Chicago

I am here in Chicago and missing my family. I talked to Sadie on the phone tonight and she said "I with I could see you dad?" and before I left Silas wanted to sit on my lap at breakfast and he laid on my chest and said, "Miss you da da." How can you leave after that? I am not sure. God has really, truly blessed me in ways that I could not have dreamt years ago. I called Virginia today and said "We are getting married in a couple of hours---we almost forgot that 6 years ago we got married.

I am excited to see everyone tomorrow at the funeral and equally excited to see my little family on Sunday. Catch'a later Washington.

A huge standing ovation to Molly and Joci for leading their teams. You both did a great job and it was great for us as leaders to see your different leadership styles. The Mighty Moody Minions won our competitions but the Super Foxxy's did a great job as well.

Nov. 9th

Tonight Joci will be away at a soccer game, think of her in your prayers. Also, pray for Stephanie because her grandma ( Henrietta Noteboom) has been having a lot of health issues including blood clots. For tonight we will be competing again but I am not sure if this will bring the Mighty Moody Minions down without her help. We will see. Join us at church from 7:30-9:30

Happy Oct. 31st

We are changing the date for high school youth group. Instead of having youth group on Wednesday, November 2nd we will have youth group on Monday, Oct. 31st. The reason is we are going to dress up and go around to homes to ask for canned goods and dry goods for The Hope Office. The Hope office, also known as Project Hope, distributes the food to needy families that come to them for help.

Meet at Church at 7:30 p.m.
The competitions for that night:
The team can gather the most lbs. of food wins and the team that has the most creative costumes wins. Extra consideration for the team or teams that have a theme in which everyones costume fits with. For example "Sleeping Beauty and the Seven Dwarfs." NO satanic, violent, or sexy costumes.

Some issues about this type of event:

-The day is different so some people might not be able to make it. Let me know if the date is a problem.
-The question of Halloween and should we as Christians be celebrating Halloween is a hard one. I personally have never gone trick or treating as a kid so I am not an expert on the subject. The way that I am looking at it as being similar to the Senior Masquerade at LC where students dress up and go bowling. The difference is that it is on Halloween the reason for doing it on Halloween is that people expect people to be knocking on there doors anyway. I don't have a problem with it and I have talked to some members of the leadership of our church. The advice I received from them was that the costumes not be satanic, violent, or sexy.

If your parent has a problems with this I totally respect that and I will understand that you can't come. Please have your parent contact me for any questions or comments that they might have.

Thanks

Dan

Let me know.

Hey everyone, I know that you are super busy with the end of the term this week but I wanted to see how many of you will be coming to this weeks youth group because we have a very special youth group with Jack  Parriera who of many of you know lost his little boy Cash to cancer. I wanted to see if you were coming because if not many of you can show up then I will see if Jack and do it another time. We also are playing dodge ball, ping-pong, and some other games. For extra points memories Isaiah:55 250 pts. for every verse. Either way please send me a message if you can or can't come.

Thanks

Dan

Race of Destiny 10/19/11

Win 250 points for your team for every verse that you learn (competitions are each worth a 1,000 points)
Isaiah 55
1 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. 2 Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. 3 Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. 4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the peoples. 5 Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.”
 6 Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn bush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the LORD’s renown, for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”

The Race of Destiny is getting heated!

The Race is so close...but your team needs your help. Meet at church for another competition night at 7:30 p.m.
